An analogue of the periodogram method for unequally spaced data is presented with a view to resolving the frequency structure of the observations. The algorithm is explicitly based on the sequential least squares procedure. In particular, the key concept is that the with-in-plot spectral analysis can be augmented by the between-plot information to make inferences about common characteristics. It is also shown how the between-plot random variations can be incorporated into the multiple harmonic regression model. A detailed spectral analysis investigates the periodic fluctuations in four cardio-circulatory variables, measured by autorhythmometric observation by eight men at rest and extending over a time span of 2 years. The spectral curves show the existence of circadian and circaseptan rhythmicities. The amplitude modulation of the dian rhythm by circaseptan variation is assimilated with the rhythmicity of work during the week. The blood-pressure variables situate their maximum annual peak in the winter period. These quasi-periodic fluctuations appear to be related to the amount of physical activity performed in time by the subjects.  相似文献

Summary The spectral characteristics of the pupil mechanism in blowfly photoreceptors and their dependence on light intensity have been investigated together with the intensity dependence of the receptor potential. The threshold for the pupil response as measured by reflectance is found at an intensity at which the peak of the receptor potential is about half maximal and the plateau potential starts to saturate. The reflectance saturates at about 3 log-units above threshold. The reflectance spectrum peaks near 620 nm, and its shape is independent of adaptation intensity. The absorbance change, measured by transmission, is extreme in the blue, at about 470 nm. The shape of the absorbance spectrum is slightly intensity dependent, presumably due to optical waveguide effects. The dynamic ranges of the light-induced reflectance and absorbance changes do not coincide. The reflectance change shows saturation at least 1 to 1.5 log units before the absorbance change saturates.  相似文献

The effect of waveguiding property (i.e., the intensity distribution) of the photoreceptor on the number of photons absorbed in a photoreceptor has been studied. It has been found that the effect is significant only for large values of the exposure and the maximum effect is less than 11% in the case of human rod photoreceptor. Vibrational optical coherence elastography (OCE) is a promising tool for extracting the mechanical property of soft tissue. Purpose of this study is focusing on settling the optimal frequency range for vibrational OCE with evenly distributed stress filed. A finite element model of 2% agar phantom was built by ANSYS with a vibration stimulation frequency range from 200 to 3000 Hz. Practical experiments were carried out for cross‐validation with the same frequencies and sample. Lateral and horizontal stress filed distributions under different frequencies were mathematically evaluated by coefficient of variance and degree of linearity. Results from simulation and practical experiment cross‐validated each other and 1000 Hz was set as the maximum ideal frequency for vibrational OCE, while the minimum frequency is set by theoretical calculation with a result of 250 Hz. An ex vivo biological sample was utilised to testify performance of vibrational OCE with excitation frequencies in and out of concluded optimal range, which showed that stiffness was better mapped out in optimal frequency range.  相似文献

The dielectrophoretic (DEP) crossover method has been applied to the detection of cell responses to toxicants. Time and dose responses of the human cultured leukemia (HL-60) line were measured for paraquat, styrene oxide (SO), N-nitroso-N-methylurea (NMU) and puromycin. These toxicants were chosen because of their different predominant mechanisms of action, namely membrane free radical attack, simultaneous membrane and nucleic acid attack, nucleic acid alkylation, and protein synthesis inhibition, respectively. For all treatments, the specific membrane capacitance (Cmem) of the cells decreased while the specific membrane conductance (Gmem) increased in dose- and time-dependent manners. The DEP responses correlated sensitively with alterations in cell surface morphology, especially folds, microvilli, and blebs, observed by scanning electron microscopy. The DEP method was more sensitive to agents that had a direct action on the membrane than to agents for which membrane alterations were secondary. The responses to paraquat and SO, which directly damaged the cell membrane, could be detected 15 min after exposure, while those for puromycin and NMU, which acted on intracellular targets, could be detected after 30 min. The detection times and dose sensitivity results showed that the DEP method is much faster and more sensitive than conventional cell and higher organism viability testing techniques. The feasibility of producing small instruments for toxicity detection and screening based on cellular dielectric responses is discussed.  相似文献

Structural, chemical, magnetic and thermodynamic properties of palladium clusters Pdn with n = 2–11 are studied using density functional methods. The average bond length, entropy, enthalpy and polarisability are observed to increase as the cluster grows in size. The binding energy per atom also increases with cluster size. Stability function and atom addition energy change predict that Pd4, Pd6 and Pd9 are relatively more stable than their neighbouring clusters. Electron affinity, electronegativity and electrophilicity values suggest that larger clusters have stronger tendency to accept electrons, thereby supporting the relative stability of Pd4 and Pd6. Chemical hardness is also seen to decrease with cluster size, which suggests that large clusters are more prone to changes in their electronic structure. The magnetic properties of these clusters are reported.  相似文献

Spectral estimation is commonly based on smoothing the periodogram or its logarithm. In such a smoothing exercise, it is not entirely sensible to use the same bandwidth for all frequencies, since the smoothness of the underlying spectrum may vary. This note describes the use of a variable span smoother in estimating the log spectrum. An application to annual lynx data is presented.  相似文献

With the rapid decline in biodiversity worldwide it is imperative to develop procedures for assessing changes in biodiversity across space. The synoptic view provided by imaging remote sensors constitutes a suitable approach for analyzing biodiversity from local to regional scales. A procedure based on the close relationship between floristic similarity and the similarity in land surface phenology was recently developed and successfully applied to assess diversity patterns using time series imagery acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectro-radiometer (MODIS). However, as it depends on high temporal resolution remotely sensed data (e.g., MODIS), the procedure is constrained by the coarse spatial resolution characterizing these high temporal resolution data. Using an optimized technique for image fusion, we combined high temporal resolution data acquired by the MODIS sensor system with moderate spatial resolution data acquired by the Landsat TM/ETM+ sensor systems. Our results show that the MODIS/Landsat data fusion allows the characterization of land surface phenology at higher spatial resolutions, which better corresponded with information acquired within vegetation survey plots established in temperate montane forests located in Wolong Nature Reserve, Sichuan Province, China. As such, the procedure is useful for capturing changes in biodiversity induced by disturbances operating at large spatial scales and constitutes a suitable tool for monitoring and managing biodiversity.  相似文献
